The temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva and is situated at a height of about 1,330 meters (4,364 feet) above sea level, offering spectacular views of the surrounding mountains and forests. The temple holds great religious significance, as it is believed that Lord Shiva consumed the poison during the churning of the ocean (Samudra Manthan), which turned his throat blue, giving him the name "Neelkanth" (the one with a blue throat).
